Style Event - PEBBLE SHOP LAUNCH

The PEBBLE SHOP launch party was on 28th February. The quirky, bright store is at 198, Rosemount Place and aptly describes itself as a store for gifts, arts and pretty things, of which there was no short supply.

Everything in store is hand made with majority of the items made or sourced from Aberdeen and environs.

The entrance. Warm and welcoming with all sorts of interesting little vintage knick knacks.

Here's Lorraine, Pebble's owner. She's carrying the bag which was my favourite of the gorgeous display from TWEEDIE BAGS. Tweedie is based in Inverness but with online shopping available on Etsy and their website.

Lorraine's daughter Jilly, being the capable captain of the till. She owns a jewelry making business called BOTTLED TREASURES which I've featured before in the Candy Belle Vintiques post. I left with one of her "Glitter Drops" neck pieces. Love it Jilly :)

And here's Amy, another lovely daughter of Lorraine. Full of hearty smiles through the evening and she circulated the store like a perfect hostess. Her full style will be on the blog soon. Watch this space :)

If you follow Aberdeen Street Style (I refuse to use an acronym...for obvious reasons) on Instagram, you would have seen the style post on Jade. Not only does she have this effortless cool about her, she is also rather creative. Some of her hand-made  items were on display at Pebble. Check out her work at GINGER PICKLE

It's just a wee thing of beauty. No further narrative needed.

This was my favourite item in the entire store, the retro phone. I asked Jilly if it was just for display or if it actually worked. She gave me the store's number and I rang it with my very modern iPhone. Well it rang! Very loud and very clear. With my iPhone forgotten, I squealed in excitement and stared in awe for perhaps a little too long.   
May be a case of misplaced thrill, but in the end I can honestly say, even if yes Steve Jobs did an amazing job with all these new age Apple contraptions, I was reminded that Alexander Graham Bell invented the phone so that people could just talk. With a phone like this, talk and listen will be all you can do...and that for me, is the very business!

Style Event - Blush Boutique Exclusive Cocktail Opening

I received a swanky invitation for the BLUSH BOUTIQUE preview opening night. Went along with my friend Sally and we had a fantastic time.

Laura Hepburn, the store owner, was an amazing hostess and gave her guests a good...
night in with lively chat and attention.

There was a cool DJ, a cocktail bar by 10 DOLLAR SHAKE, cupcakes, good company and then the gorgeous clothes and accessories...of which we all got a discount for purchases on the day. Ha!

I have to say, even without the discount, the prices of the clothes and accessories were very reasonable and you all should give the boutique a stop over. For those outside the UK, they intend to start online shopping soon.

I got a gorgeous number for a steal of a price. Will be sharing pics of that soon.

This was the "Blush Martini" made by 10 Dollar Shake. 'Twas headily sweet and quite alright for a lightweight like me :)

Laura's mom and Jackie. Now...Laura's mom was ah-may-zing! She made us feel like we were all just good friends of her daughter who'd come over for (some very glamorous) tea. We heart Laura's mom

Nicola's dress is also available to buy in store. She says she felt fantastic wearing it. Well she certainly looks fantastic too.

There are too many reasons why I love this clutch purse, but most of all that handle...great as an added accessory for the fingers and could be handy as a girl's security measure ;)

Fabulous, bubbly Jackie...and she said "No wahala" when I said I'll see her later...awwww...(yeah private lingo only for the cool crowd...**insert cheesy grin**)

Cheryl (gorgeous isn't she?) is the in-house hair stylist for Blush. The idea is for you to get your outfit and glam hair all under the same roof, and then you're ready for your night out. Love it!

Style Event - 'Surfing The Don' - Photography Exhibition

Sunday 7th July, I went along to Seventeen at 17 Belmont Street for a photography exhibition.

The focus was to display captured images, past and present of the River Don, a breathtakingly beautiful but often forgotten river, whose corridor cuts a swathe of blue and green forming part of the urban fringe of north Aberdeen. 

The photographs were impressive and I lapped it all up. I thought I'd share some of my faves from the day.

STOP PRESS!...
...there was one child exhibitor, cute little 6year old Nadine. Had to get a photo of her and her photo...what a confident little burst of energy she was too!

The exhibition continues through July and August and in the words of Alicia Bruce (www.aliciabruce.co.uk), "it's time the Donny got a share of the spotlight". 

Style Event - EVERYTHING

Last Friday 5th July, I attended the 'Everything' event which I'd been very kindly invited to by an organiser and I had a blast!

It was everything I expected and everything I didn't. I knew it would be creative and entertaining but I didn't imagine I'd be wowed by the range of artistry on display.

From short film productions to photography to paintings to sculpture to the fashion show finale, it was well worth my time. Let's not forget Mr. DJ's fresh eclectic choice of music...

The weather was of such loveliness, it only heightened the cool vibe...did someone say to me we hit 23degreesC that day?
